A crisis which stimulates growth

The current economical crisis occupies most of the technical and political observations taking place in the media and places dedicated to decision-making. It is not the first time that the world is called to face such a particular historical path.

In 1929, Roosevelt encouraged his compatriots not to be scared, to live as they had done up to that moment, to spend as normal because in a time of crisis there is nothing worse than an irrational saving.

Eighty years later I believe this is still the path to follow. Do not waste, do not excel, but continue ones’ life and activity with serenity and optimism. We know this is not easy given the alarming news and considering the objective difficulty of the situation, but we believe it is a way to come out of the crisis.

We are trying to look further and have decided to rely on finding solutions which will be more useful to our clients’ work.

Again, this year, we propose new solutions which will be launched on the market during the year.

The range of the Alfa model undergoes major changes.
We will soon launch Alfa 35/27 and, in the autumn, the new Alfa dimensions 61x61 and 61x125.
All these machines can be equipped with 140 W(30.000 revs/min) mandrel, with ball distributor for Braille writing, with HF 800W (30.000 revs/min) mandrel and, finally, with HF 550W (30.000 revs/min) mandrel, provided with automatic tool change and an eight positions storage.
Again, in the autumn, we will launch the Alfa 35/20 with 3, 4 and 5 axes: a technologically and aesthetically innovative machine thanks to the design developed by Sintesi di Torino. We are currently studying the insertion of Co2 and Yag laser sources for this machine, an interesting further development of the already excellent operative potentials.

The launch of Omicron in the laser sector is foreseen for late Spring: a machine with 3 linear motors axes and without scanner heads, destined for laser applications requiring high precision and speed.

The Cielle programming staff continue to develop new cnc and software which can simplify access to the machines’ functionality and proceed in the progressive upgrade of the existing ones.

We are also working on agreements with other companies for the distribution of the Cielle machines, with other trademarks also, in different sectors and on different markets.

The continuous research for solutions is, we hope, the answer to help you and us overcome the crisis.

Cielle is particularly experienced in designing and developing pantographs for milling and cutting thick or particularly hard materials: it has recently turned its attention to cutting systems for the most delicate materials, such as corrugated cardboards, vinyl, sponges and a variety of other materials including composites. These materials cannot be cut using traditional methods (drag milling or cutting): the mill moving over the material would grip onto it, tearing or destroying it.

A new procedure has been added to the IncicamWin system for automatic engraving with feelers. Complex machines like the ones that use indexing heads with 4 or 5 axes can now be operated much more easily. By simply pressing a START button, users can now command a fully automatic sequence for the acquisition of a surface on 5 axes using a (mechanical or laser) feeler, and then have the same workpiece engraved with movements along the 5 axes.

NEW FEATURES IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF PUNCHES

VISCOM REGIONAL 2009 - Listen, See, Experiment to develop

Once again, this spring, Cielle will participate in the three regional events, privileged opportunities to meet visual communication operators directly in their working area. The traditional event in Rome will be followed by the event in Bari, to finish with the event in Bologna located further north, at last involved in the tour of regional events.
The “Viscom Labs” were a great success in the November edition of Viscom. Considering the high level of appreciation achieved during the trade fair, the practical demonstrations will be repeated during the regional events: in this way, Cielle can offer operators the familiar in-depth study sessions together with an opportunity of practical learning, comparison and inspiration.
The theme will be “Make a complete change. Elevate your work”: thanks to the thirty-year experience in the cutting and milling world Cielle has been able to collate plenty of practical advice on this delicate and most important phase of the work because it completes the operations and is crucial to creating “good work”.
There will also be time for a practical demonstration on the working processes with AluGBond, the composite aluminium suited to indoor and outdoor applications and displays. An object will be produced with this material using a numeric control pantograph, decorated with an incision achieved using a laser machine.
A work of art will also be produced using the laser. Ennio Ludovico Chiggio, exponent of the important “N group” of Padua, had explained to us during an interview (Cielle News of September 2008, visible on our site) that “Kinetic and Programmed Art is an artistic movement which developed in Europe in the Sixties, characterised by the use of formal elements in movement, kinetics, and by serial programs in which objects and shapes become visually variable and unstable”. The artist held an interesting workshop during Viscom and an example of the work was on display during the regional events. The works are produced using all kinds of materials in tune with the artist’s inspiration, with a special taste for plastic materials (which developed and found numerous applications during the 60s). The laser pantographs, easy to use and extremely versatile, have proved to be a valid technical support in the production of kinetic artworks.
Another example of what a successful meeting between creativity and advanced technologies can achieve.

A NEW INTERNATIONAL PARTNERSHIP

Cielle S.r.l. and Silca S.p.A. give way to a new and important international partnership between the engraving and safety worlds.
Cielle has always offered innovative solutions for the engraving and customising of objects, Silca is an international leading company in the production of keys and keys duplicating machines.
Silca S.p.A. has offices in Vittorio Veneto and is specialised in the production of key blanks: over 60.000 different types, for uses which vary from mail boxes to airplanes, as well as the design and production of a vast range of mechanical or electronic duplicating machines.
The joining of competences and know-how of the two companies, as well as the presence on the Silca range of some engraving solutions dedicated to the world of keys, has led to evaluate with interest, the possibility to develop, in synergy, specific projects dedicated to the engraving of keys and cylinders.
Incisor is the first result of this collaboration. The small pantograph for small engravings, suitable for both keys and padlocks engraving and for photoengraving, launches this collaboration.
We are in the process of setting up the first order production of the pantograph, which will be sold world-wide, through the capillary commercial network of Silca

EVER ''BIGGER WORKTOP''

Cielle is always attentive to the suggestions and observations of its customers: much of the progress achieved in recent years is the result of the ability to understand and meet the requests and suggestions of those who use the machines and expect specific results from them.
One of the most interesting requirements is the need to avail of larger work surfaces, to better work the materials provided in large slabs.
The Epsilon machine has been designed with a special configuration that exceeds 4 metres in length: it can avail of a 2100x4450 size worktop.
This configuration makes it possible to process large slabs of materials, such as composite aluminium, used increasingly in the visual communications sector both for indoor and outdoor applications like signs, displays and advertising totems.
The “extra large” Epsilon maintains its sturdy reliable features and further improves the performance level: the translation speed of the axes is increased to 40 m/min. The technical features remain the same: a powerful 7 Kw standard spindle, the possibility to mount different spindles, the optional 9 position tool change, the possibility to integrate the machine with the I-Cut system to detect the print crosses.
All the Cielle technology in magnum format, new opportunities to make the most of the great performances of the Epsilon machines.

Z-AXIS NOW MOTORIZED

Cielle is constantly working to improve its machines, an ongoing task carried out by a dedicated staff of designers.
One of the latest developments is the higher level of automation reached by the laser machines (both CO2 and YAG versions), which are now equipped with a motorized Z-axis. The motor is operated by a software program that controls the automatic focusing of the laser source.
This optional function is particularly useful for those who use the machine especially for cutting. Automatic focusing helps maintain a constant rate of production and reduces the margin of error.
Using the data entered (type and thickness of material) the program positions the laser source in the best point of focus to make a perfect cut.
On YAG laser machines the motorized Z-axis is fundamental for optimizing engraving non-flat surfaces.

TO EACH CUT ITS OWN BLADE

Cielle is particularly experienced in designing and developing pantographs for milling and cutting thick or particularly hard materials: it has recently turned its attention to cutting systems for the most delicate materials, such as corrugated cardboards, vinyl, sponges and a variety of other materials including composites. These materials cannot be cut using traditional methods (drag milling or cutting): the mill moving over the material would grip onto it, tearing or destroying it.
The most useful and intelligent solution is cutting it with an oscillating blade: thanks to the 10,000/12,000 vertical oscillations per minute clear clean cuts are achieved.
Cielle has designed a new pneumatic blade carrier, which has an attachment that is compatible with most of the blades available on the market, to be able to apply this cutting method to different types and widths of material using the most appropriate blade.
Once again, Cielle machines adapt to both worker requirements and the continuous development of the materials.

ENGRAVING WITH FEELERS ON INDEXING HEAD ON 5 AXES

A new procedure has been added to the IncicamWin system for automatic engraving with feelers. Complex machines like the ones that use indexing heads with 4 or 5 axes can now be operated much more easily. By simply pressing a START button, users can now command a fully automatic sequence for the acquisition of a surface on 5 axes using a (mechanical or laser) feeler, and then have the same workpiece engraved with movements along the 5 axes. As always, the engraving to be made is set out on a plane: with the new function the program automatically develops the engraving paths on the cylinder and tilts the 4th axis according to the shape of the surface acquired. This way the tool always remains perpendicular to the surface of the workpiece. The settings interface is the same one employed for engraving by indexing head. It’s easy to use and you won’t have to learn a new procedure. A new possibility has also been added: users can preset a fixed inclination for the cylinder. This feature is useful when engraving sloping surfaces, for example the crown of a watchcase.

NEW FEATURES IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF PUNCHES

IncicamWin is especially valued for its capacity to create and manage tool paths for making punches. This special ability is made possible by the complete flexibility in programming the work stages and the evident quality of the tool paths drawn. The paths are extremely accurate, which contributes to optimize processing times.
What we want to highlight here is the new and sophisticated automatic handling of residual areas that makes it possible to use progressively smaller tools that machine the workpiece only where necessary. This feature allows for sensible savings in terms of processing time.
New measures have also been introduced to protect machining tools:
the working speed is better controlled in all movements that require heavy-duty tool work, and the tool paths are designed to make the cutter work more with its “shoulder”, i.e., its strongest part.
Cielle is always committed to applying the best technologies in the service of workers and manufacturers.
