REPORT FROM VISCOM ITALIA 2009 and VISCOMLAB  

Success in terms of visitor attendance for Viscom Italia 2009, held last November in Milan, offering professionals and industry insiders the opportunity to identify the latest technical and strategic developments, from the most advanced printing machines to digital signage.
According to the data issued at the conclusion of the event, over the three days show the organisers recorded attendance of 20,000 professional visitors, with a strong foreign presence that on Friday account for 24% of total attendance.
The current economic situation has brought about a change in the way the over 500 exhibitors presented their products and services, showing considerable ability to reinvent themselves, exhibiting not just technology but above all applications, driven by the desire to propose the right tools to respond to the crisis and prepare for the upturn.
An upgraded style saw new professional categories attending VISCOM ITALIA, following interesting initiatives designed to provide an opportunity for “person to person” contacts.
These included the ViscomLab, a hit among visitors, actual specialist workshops where for three days specially selected operators demonstrated products and working techniques directly in the field.

In perfect accord with its operating philosophy, always focused on innovation, CIELLE right from this first occasion of the event grasped the opportunity to be present, directly organising a series of LIVE WORKSHOPS, supported by company technology and joined by competent technical partners and experts.
Cielle played an active role in the field on three occasions. The first workshop involved the COSEP Social Coop from Padova, which made colourful small wooden furnishing objects and distributed small pins to the attentive spectators.
The second involved Antonio Tringale from the Catania Regional Braille Printers, who provided information on producing plates in Braille.
Finally, Bruno Bozzino from Lucera, the owner of an historic small stamp-making and binding business, who offered a practical demonstration on creating architectural models and crowned his collaboration with Cielle by consigning the owners of the company a plaque he himself made as a sign of esteem, made from silver-coated pewter cast in a shell.

DICIELLE: THE COMING YEAR  

The year 2009 was a difficult one, due to uncertainties in the market, uncertainties surrounding business continuity, uncertainties about being paid for your work.
Looking at the situation more in depth, however, has allowed an important opportunity to be exploited: to expand DiCielle, like other companies, in terms of organisation and service, so as to satisfy customers needs exactly when these arise, given that orders are received less regularly yet with shorter lead times. DiCielle has thus had the chance to grow as regards evaluating and striving for working “quality”, in terms of product quality, relations with customers and identification of new opportunities.
This is why next year, 2010, will see proposals of new products, new synergies with established and successful suppliers, and the completion of the company vision of customer service.
The coming year will likewise be a difficult yet constructive one, as companies will have the chance to grow in quality terms and prepare in organisation terms for the future global economic upturn.

NEW POLISHING CUTTER FOR PLEXIGLAS  

A new tool has been developed for polishing Plexiglas with precision, versatility and excellent speed.

The Cielle Research and Development centre has developed a diamond-tipped cutting tool for polishing Plexiglas for application on large table milling machines.
The design came about in response to the need of plastics businesses sector to complete processing with milling machine, while maintaining the same polishing quality as a laser, thus achieving better polish and transparency, the most appreciated characteristics of Plexiglas.
This objective has been reached by this tool that can correct the starting cut to obtain a very high quality finish, very similar to the effect achievable using a laser source.
Following the cutting stage, performed using a standard tool for Plexiglas, the diamond-tipped tool is used to polish the surface, removing a few hundredths. These stages are managed automatically by the software.
The sturdiness and stability of the machines, the fast and precise movement of the tool, and the effective locking of the piece mean a perfect result can be achieved.
Cielle, finally, makes its experience in Research and Development available, providing the ideal working parameters to achieve the best result.

ENGRAVING ON THREE-DIMENSIONAL SURFACES  

Cielle has been renowned for some time now for having developed a series of functions in Incicam-Win that allow engraving jobs to be projected on previously created three-dimensional surfaces to process objects with irregular forms.
Starting from version SP59, further sophisticated features have been introduced, aimed mainly at significantly reducing working times.
The main additions implemented are as follows:

  • quick Z positioning until almost touching the material, rather than referring to the highest point on the surface;
  • quick XY positioning to the minimum safety height to allow movements to be performed without colliding with the piece and thus avoiding having to move above the highest point on the surface each time.

A NEW FRIEND: MYSERVICE24 !  

Cielle, having acquired years of experience in web communication, has decided to activate a an on-line service to help customers through a very simple and intuitive website. The advantages are evident: on the website our customers can find immediate answers, saving time and money.
Examining the new site (still under construction) more in detail, we can see how it will feature various sections: search for solutions, download manuals, download wiring diagrams, tickets – help requests, and finally a control panel for users to edit/update their details.

Let’s now look at the practical ticket system in particular. If after having read the information on  a specific problem a user can’t find the solution or is not satisfied, they can open a ticket, that is, a service help request. The main is advantage that the request is immediately sent to the SAC (customer service) and, if it can be resolved simply, a response is sent back in a very short time. With the current system, customers have to wait for phones to be free before speaking to an operator, while with the ticket system requests are immediately examined.

The design of the website adds to rather than replacing the traditional Cielle service methods already available: phone service, remote service, direct service by our personnel at the customer’s site.
